On the 9th day of Christmas JCK let me know, why I need an eye catching logo
Fundamentally a consumer needs to be able to look at your logo alone, recognise it and understand the product or service, telling customers all they need to know about the brand with just one look! Leaving that lasting impression is crucial!
How many of these logo’s letters do you recognise?
This image shows how an established brand can be identified and understood purely through one letter of its logo. These established brands and built this recognition, but they all started somewhere!!
These are of course great logos, but they have become recognisable as they are well advertised. When developing a logo, you must consider the best way to promote your brand to the target audience to keep the message consistent.
There are many different ways to represent your company, I have compiled some examples which show the variety of logo ideas that you can use.
- You could use an abstract image representing the company’s philosophy. A block image would suit a stable and trustworthy company which is very established.
- A more dynamic image with orbits, swoosh’s, sparks, particles could be used for a very modern, young, high-tech company to represent electrical activities or just cutting edge meteoritic technology.
- Some companies are dealing with more than one brand, so would prefer a more generic image. This does not mean that it needs to be basic, you can still implement a technological look with a combination of straight lines and curves, making it more proportional and symmetrical.
One thing that is a rule across all brands is that Logos should be simple, clear, consistent, memorable and versatile so they can translate across different types of media, and can be placed on various kinds of backgrounds.
Although the logo is important, it isn’t your brand. (read day 7) Having a stand-out, bold logo is fantastic, but it’s no substitute for building a company with a great product or service and treating your customers well.
If you have both of those things, selling your products and promoting your business is easier, giving you the ability and resources to develop further and reach a wider audience.
The most successful brands manage to successfully incorporate different aspects of their business from the purpose of the business to their marketplace. The logo should represent all of these areas with the style and art used reflecting that consistently.
Being unique and standing out from those competitors around you is what will give you the edge and ultimately enables you to gain market share and attract and retain customers who come back time after time.
